Hrudey was born and raised in Edmonton, but after his hockey career came to recognize that the city is an absolute dump, and wisely decided to settle in Calgary. I don't think that move ever prompted him to turn in his Oilers fan-club card, and in the years prior to being added to the Flames broadcast crew did make passing comments to his affinity for the Oilers from his youth. It came out a few times in broadcasts as well: most notably, it was in the first game of the 2006–07 season that Hrudey declared that he "love[d] this team!" And he is the one who made the infamous "+300-goals!" prediction. (Good one, Kelly.)
However, Hrudey is a consummate professional, and I think that the permanent move to the Flames broadcast likely prompted him to quell a lot of his earlier enthusiasm, which he has done so effectively as to convince everyone that he is actually an unabashed Flames homer. I do wonder if his allegiances may have invariably shifted though as a result of all the time he spends covering the Flames. Hopefully, yes.
