You'd think with what they have - an elite #1C, an elite or at least very high end #1 winger, a solid #1 defenseman, and some reasonably talented depth that's a mix of veterans who aren't over the hill (Staal, Skinner, Eakin, Sheahan) and young skilled forwards (Cozens, Middlestadt, Olofsson, Reinhart) that they should at least be a middle of the road team. Yeah, they're mediocre goaltending-wise, so they can't be good... but they're also bad at everything else. With the players they have, it just feels like they should be competitive.

It sounds like Eichel's been hurt pretty much all year so there's that.
