Great post I agree. Part of the overall city / team / fans equilibrium is also that I think the fans and city have a role too (not a huge one, but are a factor into the overall picture. Definitely this could be the case with fans in the building so a bit harder to know if this is a factor with no fans in the building when the players can’t sense the energy and buzz of the fans. You even see research into this type of effect with respect to sports teams and “home ice advantage”.

In 2004 when the city started to believe the team could get it done the players can feel it. Sounds cheesy and intangible and weird but there is a sense of community with the fans. I think that, if I was a player, I’d be on here for example reading fans opinions when times are going well.

The quicker fans get on board believing that Sutter hockey and this new team can do it the better. Personally we have seen what a Sutter led team can do, and we also know that when this core is on they are so extremely dangerous.

TL/DR- the faster the fans buy in the better as it will help build momentum for a Cinderella run and or huge success.

Yes I am aware we are getting way ahead of ourselves after 2 games. But remember the Flames are 2-0 not whatever the standings tell you. New team.
