Hall is most likely to be traded in the last few days before the deadline, simply because that's when his prorated cap hit will be lowest. It's not like the Sabres are going to have a lot of time to make deals and then wait for His Imperial Hallness to let them know if he approves of any of them – let alone find another dance partner if he doesn't. It would hardly be the first time that a pending UFA wound up walking for nothing after a trade fell through.
Considering that the only teams likely to be bidding are those that view themselves as contenders, Hall would be a fool to veto
any trade. Wherever he goes, it will be better than Buffalo. If he wants to choose his destination, he can do that during the off season.
