Just impressed that so many 4th rounders or later are looking like probable future NHLers. I'm not sure of the numbers, but I imagine a very large percentage of 20-22 year olds who put up ppg or better numbers in the AHL go on to become NHLers. Especially these guys who aren't benefiting from being on lines with veteran AHL ringers. They are the ones stirring the drink so to speak.

I'd agree with your far too many comment though. Treliving inherited a rebuilding team and he should have been accumulating those early picks, not running a deficit. It's a discussion for another day though.
I hope some of these late round picks emerge into NHLers. It's definitely a difficult year for evaluation given the limited competition. Phillips needs to start getting some NHL looks if Flames are serious about him. He turns 23 in 3 weeks.
