Yes, Gaudreau might be the better player.
But after this year, Konecny's contract is 4 times longer. It would take a huge difference in player quality to overcome a term difference like that.

Gaudreau is flat out a different tier of player, and Philly would be acquiring Gaudreau knowing that he would be there long-term. Plus, salary cap out/salary cap in.
