Medically I required prescription grade compression socks after leg surgeries a few years ago. that is 20-30mm Hg compression. It was recommended that I continue to wear them... that said I actually prefer my compression socks.

If you are able to get a doctors prescription then they're usually covered under most benefits plans... because the "real" ones are expensive... like ~$100-120/pair. I swear by the Sigvaris ones... BUT look online as the in-store catalogs only have about 1/3 of the selection. I get mine at Shoppers. I *highly* recommend the WOOL ones for cold temperature activities, like night and day difference.

I have tried the knee high as well as the thigh high. Do not bother with the thigh height as they always slip down and it's super aggravating and annoying.
