The problem is we start to view these people as cartoon characters, not as real people. Part of it is due to the media, but some of these people do it to themselves.
If Anna Nicole Smith contributed things more worthy of respect during her life, people wouldn't be laughing, they would be mourning. Im not saying its not sad she died, but her life was viewed as a joke because it kind of was. She was most famous for being a gold digger. That is the legacy she left behind.
