Fair but I highly suspect that there is nothing they could say that would satisfy the fans. Unless it's to announce Ward is being fired. But if they aren't doing that - I don't know what they would say that would actually make people feel OK. If anything I think it would make people more upset.

I would feel a bit better even if they said something like they believe they have a team with skill and ability to compete in the playoffs, but that current results aren't meeting expectations so, although they're restricted in moves that they can make due to COVID, they will be using the next part of the season to reassess every single player and coach as to whether or not they are contributing towards building a winning organization and they will make appropriate changes in the summer.
Now, I would personally much prefer if they held a conference to announce Gallant or Sutter as coach instead, but even a noncommittal message that nonetheless acknowledges the problems and says that there will be action and accountability for play in the near future would be better than silence.
