The Robot storyline was outright dumb. the Detmer story line was literally the laziest piece of character righting ever and made me stop caring for her.

Sure they gave Tilley Sass, but in the last couple of officers they made her the dumbest character on the show. first with the 5 minute I love you speech in limited oxygen. then her proclaiming Burham awesome and handing over her command to Michael during a freaking battle followed by a 5 minute hug me team building meeting while the Discovery is taking fire.

The writing on the show is slipshod, they plant seeds and build towards things and completely forget it. They throw phony science into play to solve every issue and then do massive shoulder patting and high fives all around as if they're congratulating the writers.

The show started well last year, and I was fairly complimentary towards it then the episode happened with the land based jelly fish, which ended up with psychic animal control powers. Then the burn because utterly ridiculous, the villian once again blew out her brain cells and we had the elevator core of the ship.

Half the time, the writing is just actually comedy levels of bad. The writers are lazy, the people that replaced them are just lost. There's an over worship in terms of Burham and it really makes the show ridiculous. The rest of the crew just stands around now and pretty much collects paychecks. Look at them hinting at Stamets rage at Brunham, then it was pretty much forgotten about.

It sounds like Netflix wants to get rid of the show, so the show is in jeopardy right now due to funding. I expect it to come back with a much lower budget number next year if it comes back.

I don't know if I'm going to watch it with Michael in command. Green is a horrible actor, when she was trying to play evil it was so over the top and terrible that I thought I was watching a porn actress. Unlike previous Star Trek series where they built a strong ensemble cast, gave them personalities and interesting stories, this is the Michael show, even Saru got pushed off to the side last year, and is too good of an actor to be on the show.

I guess at this point I watch it for the memes, and maybe in the hopes that they'll stumble onto something good. I however expect that they'll bring back the Klingons as the primary villains next year.
