IF there was a trade to be made between the 2 teams, I think you need to start with a top salaried player to make the money work. One of the top 6 forwards. Then you're going to have to add a top prospect or young roster player. That probably starts and ends with Valimaki. Then you're probably going to have to add a pick or more.
If the Sabres insist on Tkachuk, maybe you can get away with a Zary or Pelletier add. But if it's Monahan or maybe Lindholm, they're going to have to add Valimaki, there's no way around it. Plus a 1st and a second.
There's no way if you're going to trade a player like Eichel that you're going to take Monahan and a couple of middle first rounders. The conversation starts with names like Tkachuk or Valimaki. If those are non starters, then the Sabres find another team to deal with.
Mangiapane, Dube, Hanifin are all nice players, but they're not moving the needle in a deal for Eichel. The only way you'd include players like that is to make the salaries work.
Or maybe the Sabres go all Darryl Sutter and ask for all the 20 goal scorers plus Ian White.
