If the Sabres trade Eichel, there is going to have to be a high value cost controlled asset coming back. The Flames don’t have that piece.

Let's not exaggerate Eichel's greatness. He doesn't touch Gilbert Perreault or Dominic Hasek. Pat Lafontaine had some huge years in Buffalo, far better than anything Eichel has done. The guy's best year had 82 points. He has never led his team into the playoffs. He is a very good player, and has the potential to get better, but this take that he is one of the top players in the NHL is not supported by his body of work.
