I really liked the book too and I loved the movie.
The second one was so bad that I don't think I even bothered with the third. I looked up the 4th one and it's the same director as the third. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. The guy also directed The Rocketeer (bad) and "Jumanji" (good). He was also "art director visual effects" on Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I guess we know where his "expertise" lies. Hopefully he can also make a good story instead of a CGI fest. It's dinosaurs, it shouldn't be hard to make a good story with real looking dinosaurs in it.
It's funny -- Michael Crichton's other books are brutal, but he had a hell of an idea with Jurassic Park.
