Sutter and Treliving as GMs are quite similar in retrospect. Both are tinkerers around the edges, not blow up the core guys, both got into win now mode a little early based on a PO success that was a bit of a fluke. Sutter made more off the board draft picks, but then again, didn’t have spots where there were the consensus picks like Bennett, Tkachuk and Monahan. Sutter couldn’t get a great C for his star winger. Treliving couldn’t get a winger for his top C and LW. Their highest profile draft picks disappointed.

At least he tried with Jokinen. Langkow was a helluva add too.
