The one thing Sutter will definitely do is give you a sense of which players you want to keep and which ones you want to get rid of. Darryl is a coach of men, he would be a huge asset in that sense. No coach in recent history had a better sense of what was in his room and what buttons need to be pushed than Sutter, especially on a short term basis (3 years or less).
