3rd rounder for Gustafson
1st, 2nd, 2nd for hamonic
3rd for smith
2nd for Lazar
3rd for stone
2nd for Elliott
1st, 2nd, 2nd for Hamilton
3rd for bollig

Compare that list to darryl sutter, who gets crucified for his use of picks in trades. Man it was fun as a fan, flames were landing some big name players in their prime there.

3rd for staois
2nd for stralman
3rd for bouwmeester rights
1st for jokinen
2nd for bourque
2nd for tanguay
1st for cammalleri (trading 2nds considered a wash here)
3rd for hale
2nd for Conroy
3rd for lydman
2nd for Nilsson
2nd for kipper

(ignoring other pieces involved in these trades)

Liquidating assets for draft picks might be one of the easiest things a GM can do. Pretty sure Treliving could acquire multiple 1st’s and 2nd’s in short order if he wanted to.
Treliving’s trading of picks is likely driven by organizational direction to make the playoffs. If trading a 3rd for defensive depth helps, you are probably going to do that.
To be fair, and in balance, you should make reference to the picks Treliving has acquired.
