Another mistake that bugged me at the time was not signing Robin Lehner. Good goalies were also available as a result of the Vegas expansion draft (Grubauer).
Lehner was available around 3 times and was clearly a good goalie.
The Flames then wasted picks on old average goalies instead.
And I'm going to get trashed for this, but the Flames are now paying Markstrom, who is 31 years old, injured, and has a pretty bad 90.9% for the season. This should be the best year of the contract.
To be fair, I think Markstrom's stats will improve. He's clearly the best goalie the Flames have had in a while.
I'll just say that I'm still worried about the long term effects of this contract.
