These sorts of responses strike me as particularly callous. Tiger Woods is going to be just fine, but his net wroth does not in any way diminish what it cost him to become one of the best at his craft. He arguably sacrificed his childhood, his marriage, a significant portion of his family life—to say nothing for the physical punishment and pain he has endured. These are not things that are easily compensated for by substantial wealth.
I am not a golf fan, but I was pretty captivated by Woods's dominance, and also by his really impressive comeback a couple years ago. It will be sad if he never plays again.
