Traded
PHI (5 pieces):
JVR - $7,000,000
Shane Gostisbehere - $4,500,000 x 3
Morgan Frost - $863,333 x 2, RFA --> 29 points in 41 games in the AHL in 19/20, also has career 7 points in 22 games.
2021 (or 2022) 1st (PHI)
Wyatt Wylie - $820,833 x 3, RFA --> PPG WHL RD prospect, 2 points in 4 games in AHL in 20/21
BUF (3 pieces):
Eichel - $10,000,000 x 6
Hall - $8,000,000 x 1
Ristolainen- $5,400,000 x 2
CGY (5 pieces):
Monahan - $6,375,000 x 3
Gaudreau - $6,750,000 x 2
Hanifin - $4,950,000 x 4
2021 or (2022) 1st (CGY)
2021 3rd (EDM)
Acquired
Philly (2 pieces): Gaudreau, Ristolainen
Buffalo (8 pieces): Monahan, Hanifin, JVR, Frost, 2021 1st (CGY), 2021 1st (PHI), Wylie, 2021 3rd (EDM)
Calgary (3 pieces): Eichel, Hall (50%), Gostisbehere
Philly Rationale: Philly is going all in by acquiring an elite winger who can play in their top 6 by flanking a familiar face in Hayes. I think with some rekindled chemistry, the Flyers could have 2 1st lines with how stacked they could be with Gaudreau. They also give up a few futures for Ristolainen, who could be an offensive weapon for Philly and playing with either Provorov or Sanheim to create a rock solid pairing.
I want to keep Gaudreau as much as you guys do, but this core needs some changing. I'll happily do it for a franchise C.
Buffalo rationale: Buffalo is going to lose the deal regardless, it's hard to compensate for the loss of a franchise player. But, a 2nd line LW, a borderline 1C, a top 4D (young and cost controlled), a solid center prospect, 2 1sts, and a project RD is not a bad return for a disgruntled franchise C, a LW that probably won't want to stay in Buffalo if they did trade Eichel (who has rumored to want to be in Calgary in the past), and also a top 4 RD who would have left Buffalo anyway. Buffalo then rolls with Monahan/Cozens/Frost center depth and can choose to flip Monahan later on if need be. Reinhart could somewhat play the role of Gaudrea by setting up Monahan for goals.
Calgary: I don't think I have to explain why Eichel would be of good use in Calgary. Even if he didn't re-sign here, at least we are trying to contend with him and Markstrom on the team for 5 years after this one. That should be our window to do everything we can do win a cup here in Calgary. Gostisbhere isn't do much in Philly, at this point he is borderline negative value, but we can use him on the PP and limit his ES time like we did with Gustafsson.
Side note: This deal would be appealing to both the Flyers and Sabres because they are in the same division. JVR, Ristolainen, and Frost could already move onto their next teams. If the trade was made now (obviously this is all hypothetical), the Flames could have Eichel back on the 7th of March. We play half of our games against the Senators around that time, so it's not like we would be losing games guaranteed while we awaited for Jack.
