It feels like groundhog day as a Flames fan: A roster that's not good enough to be a playoff team, but not bad enough to get high end talent in the draft.
A rebuild is mission critical for the franchise at this stage, but the worst part is it's one of the messiest situations to rebuild in the entire league that I can think of. A veteran team that just made a huge splash in free agency...I can't see them tearing it down just ~1 month into the season.
This is unfortunately going to get worse before it gets better. I suspect we'll see a GM press all the buttons he can to get the team into the playoffs because he sold a vision that these offseason acquisitions were the missing pieces. We'll need to see this excruciatingly painful season play out and I think we can all see where's it's headed.
As a fanbase, it's the hardest stage of a team to watch. There's little to no direction and even less hope.
The good news, I think, is this is the final season we'll see of it.
