Why are we taking about Leivo?
If Bennett was benched and we had a valid option to replace him with that would be fine.
But he was benched for Byron freaking Froese, benching anybody to give Froese more ice time should be a fireable offence.
The guy who was on the ice for 0 shots for and 8 shots against.
The guy who has yet to be on the ice for a high danger scoring chance all season
The guy who has put up 29% Corsi For and 20% expected goals for on the year.
Froese shouldn’t be anywhere near an NHL lineup, let alone playing what felt like half of the third period tonight.
But he plays the way Ward wants:
Collapse in your own zone: Check
Dump the puck in: Check
Show absolutely no offensive skill or creativity: Check
He’s the perfect Geoff Ward forward by those key criteria.
