It’s not easy. No one thinks it’s easy. We’re freaking Flames fans. We know how hard it is. We’ve seen a total 4 playoff round victories since 1989.
It takes a special level of incompetence to be this bad, for this long. Add in the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any real signs that things will be better “tomorrow”, it makes it pretty easy to understand why fans are frustrated. Sell us wins, or sell us hope - but this team/organization is doing neither.

I don’t think it’s good forward depth. I also don’t think it’s incompetence. The Flames haven’t made any real drafting mistakes since Jankowski (and even there the picks just behind him aren’t world beaters). They just have been trapped in mediocre draft positions.
And outside of Neal, I don’t think there’s been significant “incompetent” transaction moves (and yes, I include Hamonic in that). Incompetent, to a lawyer like me, means there was significant negligence in the event, or that no other competent official would make the same move, which I can’t say about the Hamonic deal. The Neal signing was, based solely on due diligence which obviously wasn’t done.
