I personally think the team should be doing more real dump and chase. Despite what some (not you) say they don’t dump and chase out of a strategy. They skate into coverage which is set due to relatively slow breakouts and then are often forced to chip in. however they never do it deep enough (well, the Lucic line does and they do it well).
The breakouts are slow. It’s not because of D to D. It’s because the forwards don’t put themselves in good positions, which forces a slow passing decision, and often a blue line turnover.
But whatever the system, Ward is not successful at convincing his players to buy in, so they end up not implementing it well and also not doing something else well.
ETA: He and Bennett obviously have issues if that tweet is correct.
