I don't understand the negativity around the concept. He's said nothing to this effect. It's just typical flames fan pessimism. News flash: Calgary is a reasonably desirable market, as we see time and time again in free agency.

Calgary would likely have to gut some of the roster to get him. Or the asset base that would be otherwise used to improve the roster. Either way - I don't know why he would think he would have a better chance of winning here.
We can talk ourselves into it, but at best, Calgary is a middle of the road team talent wise.
He'll want to go somewhere where he feels there is a good depth of talent already there that he can put over the top.
