Nothing Eichel has ever said has led me to believe he has a stated preference for a specific Market (i.e. a big american city.) All he has said is that he wants the best chance to compete and win. If we roll out the carpet for him, he'll have a pretty good young D core and a premier goalie locked up to look at for a contending window, and likely at least two of Johnny-Mony-Tkachuk-Lindy up front to help him out.
I don't understand the negativity around the concept. He's said nothing to this effect. It's just typical flames fan pessimism. News flash: Calgary is a reasonably desirable market, as we see time and time again in free agency.
