Apparently everything he does has a purpose and is geared towards winning. I read he coaches shift by shift and that he gives players in game tasks to keep them motivated. Including the things he says about certain players to the media or talking about the other team as having the best players in the world... So if said player proves he can rise to the challenge and beat that player across from him he is going to gain a lot of confidence as the underdog!
Never mind X and O's we are not going to win if this Flames team is not motivated. If the Flames can't be motivated enough to win 1 or 2 games in a row, how can we win a 7 game series...? Sutter teaches to win a bunch of 1-0, 2-0 games and if the score is 5 to4 he wants to know why the other team scored 4 goals. Whether it is the goalie, forwards, or the defensman they won't be making the same mistake twice without him noticing!
The bar is set too low and we need someone to raise it a lot higher for this group. This is one of the reasons I wished we had hired Sutter from the start because then some of the young guys would have learned early what it takes to win consistently and over a long playoff series.
How can these guys make sacrifices in the playoffs if they can't even win 2 games in a row?
