The Flames are not looking like a team that should be adding players this season. They can't afford to be losing picks and prospects. They need those players to replace guys on there way out. Imo Gio and Backlund should be trade deadline moves. I'd only keep Backlund if Bennett moves instead
Right now the Flames are probably losing Tanev in expansion draft. He is our best defenseman. Gio at this point shouldn't be protected. If that the case they might as well move him
Backlund too. I think he could get us a quality return. Bennett can move to center and we need to look at 2021 draft and positioning for expansion draft. This team is very young still minus Gio and Backlund they are one of youngest in league.
Next summer Johnny can be extended. If he doesn't then he might have to go too but no backs and gio makes resigning players a ton easier and selling might get us a top prospect this draft
