I'm so sick of hearing that this core kills coaches.

Hartley was fired out of nowhere, it was a product of Treliving thinking we were further ahead in the rebuild than we really were. The players did not do him in. There were rumors that some of the players didn't like him but you will find that on every sports team so not really news. It was well known that Hartley was only there to start the rebuild and was not in the plan to be there long term.

Gulutzan was an absolute mistake of a hire. Treliving has to wear that one. Heck, the 1988-89 flames may have missed the playoffs with him at the helm. The temperature of the board was cold toward this hire and it proved to be accurate.

Peters got them the 2nd best record in the NHL. He was hired after being the only one considered and did not have any real prior success in the NHL. But he was the only coach that had head coaching experience at the NHL level. Things were not good in the second year of Peters and with the incident, the hand was forced. The board was not thrilled about this hire, but gave him a chance. With Carolina letting him walk, lots of people questioned this hire and Carolina turned out better after he was gone.

Ward looks just as lost as Playfair did in 2006-2007. My opinion is that Ward's record bas been propped up by the talent of this team rather than the team killing his coaching.

You could argue that the players maybe helped Peters out of town (they were not the root cause) but the rest of the coaching changes have been errors in judgement by Treliving.
