The flames are not good enough to roll 4 lines. This is a 3 line team and they should do that.
Maybe if they are in a position like the leafs or Habs where they are confident in playoffs then you start trying to get your lines into a 4 line attack to prep for postseason hockey but the flames need to win games now just to make playoffs and they need to shorten the bench to do it

Ward's way of shortening the bench is just to double shift Johnny, so Johnny on the first then 2 shifts later he is on the 4th.
When he shorten the bench, he should just rolls 3 lines, then just sprinkle the 4th there every 10 shifts or so.
