Well, I thought that game was great. The Flames are playing against a desperate Canucks team right now. So anyone expecting the Flames to just roll over the Canucks is out of touch. The Flames walked away with Ws in 2 of 3 games and are 8-6-1 on the season. The Flames really suffered from losses in a few close games they should've won. If the Flames were 10-4-1, we'd all be jumping up and down.
The Flames looked half asleep in game 2 against the Canucks. They've also suffered from a horrible schedule, with huge breaks followed by a bunch games all crammed together. That will even out over the season.
The Flames have iced a much more complete team than they have in a long while. The keys to their success will be increased depth scoring from Tkachuk and the defence. If the Flames can find a way to get Valimaki, Hanifin, Giordano, and Tkachuk contributing higher quality offence, they will be a very solid team.
A lot of people here are really exaggerating how close this team is to being successful.
