Remember, fans really have no say in all of this. I want the franchise goal to be a Stanley Cup, but my expectations as a fan have no bearing on that. I can enjoy games on a game by game basis without a view to the future at all.
So if we use the EPL as an example, Flames will never be a Liverpool, Manchester United, or the other Manchester Football team. We are more like an Everton or perhaps Leicester City. If your looking for something like a convenient top tier then become a Laker fan.
