I’ve had this happen a few times over the years, waiting a day or two to get the furnace fixed. I just turned on the oven with the door open to keep the house above freezing and used electric space heaters in the rooms I’m using. Pipes don’t freeze immediately and the basement doesn’t get too cold right away. If you have a big house this might not work for you.
