Ottawa is likely the worst team in the league and they hung 40 some shots the other night on Edmonton and beat Montreal. Vancouver got walloped in every category but Montreal, but Ottawa beat them and deserved it.
A team is a sum of the play in a bunch of games. I don't think it's effort for the Flames. You don't make the nhl generally unless you can bring that. Gio isn't known for taking it easy. I think it's confidence which leads to momentum. It's finicky, so you need to be able to have systems to show the bleeding when you're not feeling confident. Flames don't have that.
Watch the opposing forwards gain the zone against Calgary. The D backs right up scared of being beat, only to allow the opposition to set up and keep pressure

I don't think it's effort.
I think it's mental strength ... something this group has never had a huge sampling of.
Did find some of those videos interesting today ... Tanev just standing in the corner was odd. If that's coaching ... fix it. If that's mentally checking out and not doing what you're supposed to ... fix it.
But honestly I expected the Canucks to come out white hot in the first period on Saturday. It was the turnovers in the second that really pissed me off. Turnovers aren't a lack of hard work. It's mental toughness.
