I am interested how the road teams have performed across the NHL this year, especially in the 2nd or 3rd game in the same city. It always seems like the Flames effort have changed the longer they remain in the same city on the road.
Obviously the way things work this season, its even worse than the bubble on the road IMO. These guys are stuck in their hotel rooms for days on end other than meals and when they go to the rink for practices and games. From my understanding they can't even visit teammates rooms (isn't that what Ovechkin and company got in trouble for?) I personally hate hotel rooms, and I'd certainly feel de-energized being stuck in there solo for 3 games over 6 days like they are currently. Even worse, when they were in Winnipeg at -40 for those games earlier this season after coming from Montreal. Imagine being stuck in a Winnipeg Hotel room for days on end??
At least when you are in your home city you have the comforts of your own home. I'm wondering how much this plays into some of the efforts we've seen the Flames give this season.
