Default Mangiapane and Andersson "like brothers"

Haynes has a great article today over at The Athletic

These guys started together in the OHL with the Barrie Colts, attended Flames development camps and now are on the big club together. It's behind the paywall but here are a few short quotes.

Quote:
Six years after the Barrie Colts teammates were selected by Calgary in the 2015 NHL Draft — Andersson in the second round (53rd overall) and Mangiapane in the sixth round (166th overall) — both are on the cusp of stardom
Quote:
“We’ve had so much fun over the years,” Andersson said. “We’re all over each other every day and at the rink. We try to have as much fun as possible out there. If anyone chirps me, obviously he jumps on the train, too, and he starts chirping me.

“At the rink, we do most of the stuff together and on road trips and when we’re in hotels, we usually hang out with each other just to relax.”

Flames assistant coach Ryan Huska, who coached them in Stockton, says they’re like brothers.
Quote:
“Wednesday and Thursday were schnitzel days. That’s probably why Tree ripped me in the media the next summer because I ate one of those sandwiches every day and I came in fat for camp,” Andersson said, laughing about it now. “I’ve laid off the sandwiches since then.”

Getting called out by general manager Brad Treliving for his conditioning, an incident Andersson called “embarrassing,” prompted some lifestyle changes to get his career back on track.

“It was hard because I wasn’t in good shape and I didn’t work out as I was supposed to. When it came out in the media, everyone was all over me. So obviously, Mangy helped me a lot over that time, and it got better and better as the season went along.”
