You wouldn’t do it?! Because he’s kind of soft and small? How has being bigger and not soft helped Bennett?? Or the Flames?
I think your biased and flawed perception of Bennett is seriously clouding your ability to make rational, logical decisions.

Ok, let's talk rational and logical-when his 5.3M contract is up AT THE END OF THE YEAR, what then? Are you going want them to pony up that kind of contract for a 30 year old, who's obviously on the decline if he's being healthy scratched? That's IF he wants to sign to sign in Calgary? Sure, let's sign him again so our soft-ass team can lose out in 4 games of the playoffs-at least we can make Tatar our new whipping boy, cuz he does NOTHING in the playoffs. You say Tatar is better than Bennett will ever be? Not in the playoffs, my friend-Bennett is the WAY better player when games count.
And who on the team would Tatar displace? Would you rather have Dube, Mangiapane, or old-ass declining Tatar in that top-6 RW position? Surely, you wouldn't want Tatar and his "pretty damn decent" 5.3M salary playing in the bottom-6? Pretty expensive 3rd line with Backs and Lucic. Mang and Dube at least play with some grit.
So yeah, I think I would pass on a 30-year old upcoming UFA, who just got scratched, in return for Bennett.
