here's how I see it; we know Treliving covets a player with Millers profile, physical with scoring ability. I believe this is the piece he wants to partner with JG and SM and this is why he was hot on the heels of Josh Anderson.
Bennett has been, obviously, discussed to death four time over. Bottom line, he hasn't shown to be anything over than a middle six forward at best. If he ever gets to be a 20-20 guy, I would surprised. The 2021 draft has been known to be underwhelming. If the Flames end up in a draft spot below 20, I would think they have had a disappointing season. As for the added picks/prospects, I guess that's where I wonder if we're talking about an added 2nd? do we move another recent first?
I think there is good reason to believe the Flames are going to be aggressive in the short term. Treliving has made multiple attempts to add to the top six. With the current group and their contract status's, if you look at it as a snap shot today, they have two years to go for it.
anyway, just a few thoughts for discussion....
EDIT: Looks like he is signed for two more years beyond this one. For a guy who was over a point/game last year at $5.25, that's great value.
