Are we talking about the 99.9th percentile here? Is that what drives something being a sport or not? I don't think so. Obviously both skill and athleticism are important at the highest level, this is true of almost any activity. But whether I can step on a field and be competent at soccer and enjoy myself is primarily determined by physical fitness (or lack thereof), while in golf, that outcome is primarily determined by my skill (or... lack thereof).
