Majors matter a lot more in individual sports because the competition is direct. Seven is a tough number to overcome for Brady in a team sport, but Jordan is considered the greatest and Russell has five more rings than he does. Mahomes or someone else doesn't necessarily have to match or beat Brady's number so long as it is close (five would probably be the minimum) and they own all the major records. But that's also the problem with catching Brady is you have to play for probably a minimum of 18 years to have a real shot at breaking his passing records. Just seems too much to overcome at this point.
