McDavid has talent. Lots of it. But he reminds me of a young Ovechkin. Kind of a one-trick pony. That didnt go so well for Ovechkin, but he spent the time and re-invented his game and now is one of the premier players in the League....well, the World. He will be one of the greatest players of all time by the time he hangs them up.
McDavid seems to have similar talents, but he also seems to have taken the 'Gulutzan' approach.

Gio is one of those guys that played so far beyond contract for so many years, that you can almost look at is as earned back pay for the last couple years of his deal. It’s basically the complete opposite of Phaneuf.
To me that has always been the amazing comparison. Two guys roughly the same age that came into the league in completely different scenarios. If anyone would have ever told you 10 years ago, where each player would be at 10 years later, you would have laughed in their face.
