Btw both baseball and football do not benefit the same way. They are actually painfully boring, almost unwatchable on tv, without commentary. There’s just so much dead time. So, so much. Commentary is an absolute necessity.
Hockey, I could totally go either way honestly.

This!
I often watch at night while my wife is either asleep or watching some period piece on N'flix or Amazon, so I have headphones. I just take them off and watch the game in silence a LOT unless there's something I want to know about. I (mostly) skip the talking heads in the intermissions.
Still, what I'd like is a feed that is just the sounds of the rink (and crowd, when there is a real one again), no PbP and no distractions. Like sitting in the arena.
I don't bother with other sports because they ARE too boring.
And, sometimes, if I can, I watch the other team's feed if I feel like streaming and being 3 minutes behind. Some are OK, some are terrible. Few are good.
