No, I am not going to respect his choice to judge another human being because he himself has strong feelings. Strong feelings make for bad judgement at the best of times. If he wants to say what he thinks MacTavish's punishment should have been, and has a reasoned case for it, I'm prepared to listen. But that is not what he is doing.

He paid the price he was required to pay. I agree with you that it was too light – but honestly, what else was he supposed to do? Are you going to carry a grudge for life against every complete stranger who got off too lightly in court?
If you have a problem with the justice system, join the club. But that doesn't give you an unlimited licence to bash Craig MacTavish.

Yes he only spent one year in jail, but he has truly tried to make amends and spent a lot of his life trying to educate people on the dangers of DUI.
