Probably multiple factors, including because he is too close to the team to be objective. And too busy to think clearly. Under too much pressure.
By having that ability to step back and look at things from a detached and a holistic perspective, plus ample time to critique, often with full benefit of hindsight, the armchair coach has an advantage that the frazzled, overwhelmed rookie head coach simply can not
