Whether you think Bennett is any good or not, that's a different discussion. Baertschi was never a useful player unless he was scoring - he did absolutely nothing else when he was on the roster, and was deservedly scratched and then traded. It didn't 'click' with him between the ears.
Bennett at least goes out and plays hard. He may - just like almost everyone else on the team - not have 'good games', but he is working out there and trying. He skates hard, he is still checking. I think it was in his last game that he came roaring back and stopped what would have probably been a sure goal - that's proof that he is working hard in all zones.
So no, the similarities between Baertschi and Bennett start and end at 'trade request'. Everything else that Bennett does is trying to help the team when he is on the ice. I think it is fair to question how he is helping the team, how much, or if he fits the team - but unlike Baertschi, he isn't dogging it out there in the slightest.
