The only conditions under which I would be willing to put a 'massive sum' into something like that is if it wasn't a massive sum
to me. This is confusing, I know. But if I was in a position where a couple hundred thousand dollars to future theoretical me was the equivalent of a few thousand dollars to me now, then I'd do it. But that's not really upping my risk, it's just changing the context of the risk being taken.
