I loved both.



If you wanted that Raw hard core rock sound that was a little unrefined then the Roth era is for you. I think musically they were better and a little more polished with the Hagar era.



I still loved that for a long time VH would book the absolutely worst opening acts that they could find. At one point they were rolling out Polka Bands. Or bringing in completely different styles of musical acts (Echo and the Bunnyman) that just riled up the audience before their performance.


I also felt that VH under Roth was just more energetic especially live. You went to party with Van Halen, you went to have your jaw dropped with Van Hagar.
