We have also seen it in a few games in which Monahan has played while Gaudreau was injured. His production took a bit of a hit when Gaudreau missed games in 2016, but it was still there.
However, it is very much unlike the final several weeks of the 2017–18 season, when Monahan was shelved with injuries and Gaudreau spent a stretch of games with Sam Bennett and Derek Ryan alternating as his centreman in March and April. Gaudreau's production cratered, and Bennett's was completely absent.
