Maybe it's possible that people like Sam Bennett because people fall in love with bottom six or seemingly irrelevant players all the time for the things they DO contribute even if they do so inconsistently. Maybe we don't need to psychoanalyze everything.
Maybe we don't need to call it all a myth, or a legend, or whatever, and just realise that people appreciate different things about different players, and can enjoy different players for different reasons. Spiralling out of control? Nah, it's hockey, it is an entertaining game, at a certain point the only thing that spirals out of control is someone's need to be right and convince other people that their subjective opinion about a player is the only real one.
For every group of people that love or hate a player on the home team, from Gaudreau to Bennett, there is bound to be at least one person who feel the opposite way. Who is right? Nobody cares.
Thread after thread of the same conversations, so much time repeating the same damn thing in some weird attempt to make THIS the one that really convinces people who don't care to be convinced, because they see it differently, and they're happy with that.. because it's hockey... and who really cares.
All I'm saying is y'all need jesus.
