What this feels like is that he's now out the door in the next 24-48. Sam Bennett for his flaws isn't a quitter, and you knew he was giving everything every night. There's no reason to scratch him other than avoiding injury.
I hope we're sending him to the US for a prospect all but the most well versed of us have never heard of but will be the next Mangipane, Kulak, Ferland, Brodie, or maybe even... Gaudreau(gasp!).
A prospect would free cap space, and avoid direct comparisons. We're not getting a current top 6 player back, so if it's an NHLer, it'll feel like a loss.
I wish Sam the best of luck. I personally don't think he has enough sense between the ears to be a top 6, but go ahead and prove me wrong with a bigger opportunity. I figured it would be with the Kraken (which would have been fun, especially vs Vancouver), but as others have said, this is a great chance for CalgaryPuck to see if it was Nature vs Nurture when it came to Bennet's failings.
