I get that, but who are you replacing Backlund with? Are you qualifying Bennett? If not, he's very likely a zero value asset for us by ED time (but as I said, some value for SEA)...
The UFA class isn't terrible, but most of the options are at least as old as Backlund. The 'younger' options are:
RNH
Danault
Granlund
Lowry
Wennberg
Haula
Laughton
Iafallo
Copp
Hard to assume that the answer is in the room. Dubé and Zary are the most promising internal options, but it's hard to imagine either filling that role 8 months from now.
In a perfect world, maybe we'd be better off with Laughton or Lowry for under 4M, but it's tough to bank on that...
